The Boston Globe says, "Tripping Lily is a genre unto itself." Touted as fresh, energetic, and alive, their pop-rock groundwork is cross-fertilized with folk music and cutting edge vocal harmonies.
At first glance, you might mistake the group for a blue grass ensemble. The band consists of brothers Demetrius and Alex Becrelis on guitar and mandolin along with violinist Monica Rizzio and Laird Boles on upright bass.In fact Demetrius says, "A lot of our influence and our writing has more of a rock, pop, jazz aspect of it." Some of the official genres used to describe the sound of the group include "acoustic progressive folkgrass" and "pop folk music."
